Good Movies to watchReviewed by Bobby Bankston, 2009-04-09
This was a good movie to watch, however not as good as the first Net.
Way better than I expected!Reviewed by Brandon Taylor, 2009-01-07
This movie was superb! I was anticipating some cheap, boring movie
with crap special effects--boy was I wrong!
Right off the bat, the movie began with a chase scene with great
music and effects. Things didn't die down either! There was
plentiful amounts of action throughout the entire move with little
down time like many low-budget movies. Like others said, the movie
is similar to the original movie, but a tid bit more modern.
I do have to complain about Nikki DeLoach (as Hope Cassidy) though.
Her acting was not the best, but it was still good. It annoyed me
when she screamed because I could tell she was faking it. Other
than that, she was great--what would one expect from a low budget
film anyways?
Also, the ending was far from predictable! I NEVER would have
thought ********* **** ***** ***.
DON'T be afraid to purchase this movie. If you think it is going to
be some cheap, crap movie, it is far from it! I am surprised this
movie was a direct-to-video--it was more than worthy of hitting
theaters.
"The Net 2.0": Updated with Recycled MaterialsReviewed by Tsuyoshi, 2007-02-02
The greatest thing about "The Net: 2.0" is the location. The film
was shot in Turkey (entirely on HD video) and the city of Istanbul
provides a very colorful and exotic backdrop to the story which is
just predictable, often impossible and not very thrilling.
The film follows an American computer security expert Nikki Cassidy
(Nikki Deloach) who finds a new job in Istanbul. She needs a
change; needs something different, something very exciting. Nikki
flies to Turkey, leaving her reluctant boyfriend behind, and there
she is wrongly accused of the murders by the local authority.
`The Net: 2.0" uses so many clichéd narrative and visual
techniques taken from other better thrillers including its
original: flashbacks, voiceovers, fast-forwards and jump-cuts,
mysterious (and unreliable) strangers, stolen IDs and high-tech
machines. Director Charles Winkler gives bits of car chase here,
hand-to-hand fights there, and some tricks using James Bond-like
hand-made gadgets in between.
Still we are not excited at all. But how can we? The film totally
forgets to explain certain important things. Why doesn't she just
phone someone in the US? Being a computer expert who actually meets
clients, Nikki must know someone who can help her. How was the
money withdrawn from her bank account? And most of all, as to the
mastermind of this conspiracy, why not bribe her (or someone else)
instead of preparing intricate setups?
`The Net 2:0" shows several great aerial shots and beautiful
landscapes of the city. the detailed shots of the streets and
buildings of the city are in fact much better than the main plot
and character themselves.
Very Complicated..Reviewed by ¤*°Ms JuiCy®°*¤, 2006-10-25
Well... From the beginning its understandable but then it gets a
little complicated but not boring!!!
So if u wanna watch it just watch it and then u decide.
A tense suspenseReviewed by Sonny L, 2006-07-10
The best way to approach the Net 2.0 is as its own movie. It is very different from and can not be compared to Bullock's The Net. It was more similar to the Bourne Identity, only with the identity theft of a normal every day person instead of the amnesia of a lethal operative. What would the average person do, in a foreign country with no one to turn to? How can she salvage her stolen life, with everything she has ever known ripped away from her? The movie opens with a chase scene, an American woman in Istanbul running from the police. The story of how she got to that point in her life unfolds from there as she narrates, putting in the details as she goes along. This is a very effective tool for increasing suspense. Looking back in hindsight wondering about her every contact, the tension mounts throughout. This was an excellent intelligent action movie.
